The Airbus A350 is a successful widebody aircraft that has replaced some Boeing 767s and A330s.
The shortest flights to, from, and within the US are operated by Delta Air Lines.
Delta expects to take delivery of 20 A350-1000s in the next few years, becoming the first US carrier to operate both A350 variants.
The Airbus A350 has been a popular widebody long-haul aircraft operated by several airlines around the world. Known for its increased range and modern advancements, the plane competes directly with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family and has been a feasible replacement for other aging aircraft of its size, such as the A330 or 767.

Although the aircraft type – albeit only one variant, the A350-900 – is operated by only one US-based airline, the plane still files to and from America frequently. Several of its shortest routes are less than 2,000 average miles and are operated within the country.

When analyzing the shortest scheduled flights this month, aviation data and analytics provider Cirium highlights the plane’s usage by Delta Air Lines. The Atlanta-based carrier is the only US airline to operate the A350. Over the years, the airline has implemented a unique fleet strategy compared to its two competitors, American Airlines and United Airlines.
