Green Oak Township, Livingston County plane crash Livingston County east of Whitmore Lake

A crash in Green Oak Township resulted in a small plane being caught and suspended in trees near a private airfield.

It happened at about 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, near the intersection of Eight Mile and Rushton roads. Police said the pilot, a 72-year-old man from Canton, was not injured in the crash and was able to get to the ground safely. He told police he was coming in for a landing when a gust of wind caused the plane to roll to the left, a wing clipped a tree branch and the plane “cartwheeled” into the trees.
