Harry Reid International Airport Expects To Surpass Single-Day Passenger Record After Super Bowl LVIII
Harry Reid International Airport is bracing for large crowds after the Super Bowl.
This was Las Vegas' first time hosting the Super Bowl, with over 300,000 fans traveling to the city for the event.
Officials advise arriving at least three hours before departure to account for possible delays.
With the Kansas City Chief’s winning yet another Super Bowl title, officials at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) are “bracing” for large crowds on Monday. Several thousand people are expected to travel home the day after the big event, which could result in the airport setting a new daily passenger record.
This was the first time Las Vegas has hosted the National Football League’s high-profile game of the year. An estimated over 300,000 fans traveled to the city for the event.
“A high-demand weekend”
LAS handling millions of passengers annually is something the airport is used to, but the sudden increase in travelers over the span of a few days has caught the attention of officials.
“Monday after the game is expected to be an extremely busy departure day,” the airport said.
Leading up to the game, high passenger volumes began on February 8th and lasted through Saturday, according to the airport. Officials expect people will leave the city from Sunday evening through Tuesday, with Monday seeing the most amount of travelers.
