Emirates seeks a new route connecting Miami to Bogotá, Colombia, with both passenger and cargo services.
An agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Colombia allows for up to seven flights per week, potentially increasing to multiple flights per day.
The schedule change on the Miami-Dubai route suggests Emirates is preparing to launch a Bogotá service utilizing Boeing 777 aircraft.
The Dubai, United Arab Emirates-based carrier Emirates revealed it was seeking a new route offering in South America. The airline hopes to fly a service connecting Miami International Airport (MIA) in Florida to El Dorado International Airport (BOG) in Bogotá, Colombia. On February 10, it was revealed that Emirates officially requested permission to serve this route with Colombia's Civil Aviation Authority, Aeronautica Civil. Emirates has historically operated a cargo service along this route, but the airline will look to operate a passenger service as well.

Another South American route
Several years ago, Emirates began exploring the idea of operating a service out of Colombia. In 2021, the Colombia Civil Aviation Authority reached an agreement with the United Arab Emirates at the ICAO Air Service Negotiation Event. The new agreement allowed carriers based in the United Arab Emirates, which includes Emirates and Etihad, to operate flights to Bogotá from Miami up to seven times per week. The agreement also allowed this route frequency to be increased to multiple flights per day after a year of the initial route being established.
