US Senate Committee Denies Pilot Retirement Age Increase
US Senate Commerce Committee rejects proposed increase in pilot retirement age from 65 to 67, citing need for further research.
Industry figures oppose the proposed increase, noting a lack of support from labor, airlines, and the FAA.
Senate Commerce Committee also approves measures to enhance safety and consumer rights in the aviation industry.
The US Senate Commerce Committee has voted against plans to raise the pilot retirement age by two years. The proposals would have increased the retirement age from 65 to 67 years old.
In July 2023, the US House of Representatives voted 351-69 in favor of reauthorizing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for a further five years, part of which would involve increasing the pilot retirement age by two years.
